2020 SUPERCROSS SEASON POINT STANDINGS AFTER ROUND 7 IN TAMPA FLORIDA
The 2020 Tampa Supercross is officially over with and the points have been updated. The track proved to be one of the most challenging of the season as top riders like Adam Cianciarulo, Ken Roczen and Zach Osborne all hit the deck in the 450SX Main Event. In the 250 Main it was Rj Hampshire who fell victim to the track. All day riders were crashing in the sand section and the whoops as well. Eli Tomac rode well and went on to win the 30th Main Event of his career to take over the points lead and grab the red plate from Ken Roczen. Cooper Webb moved into second after Adam Cianciarulo went down and he gained points on everyone else, but lost three points to Eli Tomac. In the 250 class it was Shane McElrath who dominated the heat race and Main Event from start to finish on his new Star Racing Yamaha ride.
450 SUPERCROSS POINT STANDING (ROUND 7 OF 17)
The 450SX Main Event was another exciting one. With 450 rookie, Adam Cianciaurlo out front early, Eli Tomac put a charge on and came and passed him. Adam pushed hard to stay with Eli and eventually went down and dropped himself back to ninth place. Malcolm Stewart ran third for much of the race and then at the end of the Main he would drop back to finish seventh. Cooper Webb was around fifth early, but he came through to finish second after he passed Stewart and Friese early and Cianciarulo went down later in the race. Ken Roczen also had a crash mid-race, but he was able to remount quickly to finish third and minimized the damage. Now, Eli Tomac has a four point lead over Ken in the 450 Championship Point Standings.
250 EAST COAST POINT STANDINGS AFTER 1 ROUND
Shane McElrath completely changed his program for 2020. He moved from Florida to California, he switched from KTM to Yamaha, he switched from training with Aldon Baker to Gareth Swanepoel and it seems like it has paid off so far. Shane is very happy with his new program and it shows as he dominated the first 250SX East Coast Main Event. Defending Champion, Chase Sexton rode strong and he finished second while Jeremy Martin returned from his major back injuring in 2018 to finish third. Rj Hampshire was up to fourth on the final laps when he crashed and dropped back to sixth.
