The opening round of the 2021 Pro Motocross season is wrapped up and we were impressed at how good the racing was. While the riders were navigating the brutal track at Pala, we were busy running around the infield of the track grabbing photos of all the action. From close battles to great sportsmanship, we saw it all at the opening round of the 2021 Pro Motocross season. Scroll down below to see some cool moments we managed to grab with our cameras.

Qualifying in the morning was cool and cloudy until the sun started to come out around 10:30. The wind picked up a little bit, but the temperature stayed nice all day.

Heading into the weekend, there were a few faces we had anticipated to do very well, Justin Cooper being one of the many Star Yamaha riders. He finished third overall.

Jett Lawrence nearly scraping his handguard across the ground.

We saw some big air at the roller following the start straight right before the holeshot. Many riders scrubbed the roller while some launched off of it.

Dylan Ferrandis was very impressive on Saturday.

Cameron McAdoo (31) and Pierce Brown (45) racing down the start during their practice session.

How about that new Teal Fly gear colorway?

It was great to have more fans at the race on Saturday.

Mike “Schnikey” Tomlin posing for the lens. Mike spent many years working for Geico Honda and the factory Honda HRC team, most remembered for his time with Justin Barcia following him from the his rookie 250 season until he left Honda for JGR Yamaha. Now he’s been at Pro Circuit for a few years as an R&D technician spending most of his time on the dyno developing Pro Circuit engine products for the company’s retail division. He also helps out the Pro Circuit Kawasaki race team often and helps MXA with many projects and dyno testing.

Jett Lawrence’s mechanic, Christien Ducharme, patiently waiting for the gate selection.

Some of the Star Yamaha boys waiting as well.

The track turned out to be pretty dry once the racing commenced.

Max Vohland (115) was quick on the trigger to get to the first turn.

The holeshot tabletop proved to be pretty tight.

Full send?

Ken Roczen getting pitted in a deep rut.

The battles were insanely close in the 450 class.

Zach Osborne holding on during the massive rollers in the back section of the track.

And the uphill turn following the rollers was insanely sketchy.

Even the battle between the two teammates, Ken Roczen and Chase Sexton was close.

At the end of the first moto, Chase Sexton and Dylan Ferrandis drag raced down the finish line straight and finished just feet apart from each other. Dylan grabbed the win, but he was very quick to give respect to his fellow competitor.

In the 250 class, Max Vohland rode exceptionally well for his first 250 outdoors National. Unfortunately bike problems would cause him to DNF moto 1 after leading for 8-laps and a crash with RJ Hampshire in Moto 2 would hold the rookie back.

Michael Mosiman (42) would finish  4th overall.

Cameron McAdoo getting a large serving of roost from the guy in front of him.

Both classes had a pretty rough track to ride on. These guys were scraping their footpegs by the end of the second moto.

Jett Lawrence grabbed the overall 250 win in the end.

Emotions were high for the 17-year-old.

The 250 overall winners, Justin Cooper (3rd), Jett Lawrence (1st) and Jeremy Martin (2nd).

You good Adam?

The 450 class racing down the start.

The 450 class is one of the most stacked classes we’ve seen in a while.

Ken Roczen leading the race down the mechanic’s lane.

Dean Wilson had a pretty rough time after swapping out and getting the end of his handlebars in the worst place possible.

Dylan Ferrndis going big sending the rhythm section down the finish straight.

Christian Craig (29) and Chase Sexton (23).

Guess how fast Jason Anderson was going.

Aaron Plessinger doing a really big wheel tap.

Ken Roczen grabbed the second moto 450 win.

We even got one of those hero shots.

But it was Dylan Ferrandis who grabbed the overall 450 win.

And celebrating with his trainer David Vullemin.
