2021 LATVIAN MOTOCROSS GRAND PRIX: RENAUX’S 250 LEAD IS 34, WHILE GAJSER IS 23 POINTS UP

With only 8 races done, the 2021 FIM World Motocross Championships aren’t even to the halfway point and still have 11 races to go, although it is rumored that several of the fly-away races that are schedule for November and December might be replaced by double-headers, as has already happened with the GP of Turkey (which will now be held on September 5th and the following Wednesday, September 8th). Jeffrey Herlings who is riding with a broken scapula (shoulder blade) needs all the races he can possibly get to make up his 43-points deficit on points leader Tim Gajser. And Jeffrey didn’t gain any points at Latvia, after winning the first moto, he fell late in the second moto to go 1-4, but was lucky to only lose 1-point to Gajser who went 2-2 for the win.

In the 250 class. Maxime Renaux won the Grand Prix of Latvia, while Jago Geerts stood on the second spot of the podium and Mattia Guadagnini was third on the podium. Renaux now stretches out his championship lead to 34 points over Guadagnini as Geerts sits third just a further two points behind. With Sweden and Fiald cancelling heir GPs, the GP series gets three weekends off before the Turkish doubleheader.
