450 MAIN EVENT RESULTS | 2021 SALT LAKE CITY SUPERCROSS 2
The premier class is back in Rice-Eccles Stadium for the last time as the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross season comes to an end and crowns a champion. Cooper Webb is currently in a massive lead and would have to finish 19th or better to win the championship after Ken Roczen made another disastrous mistake during the race the weekend prior. You can say Cooper has this win in the bag but just like Ken’s two tip-overs this season, Supercross can be pretty unpredictable sometimes. The track has proven to be brutal when dry, forming choppy ruts after just a handful of laps. We expect the course to be pretty beat up by the time the Heats start for the 450s, but it’ll probably look like it just got out of the ring with Mike Tyson by the time the Main commences. So get those last chance fantasy picks ready, a tub of popcorn, and good luck to those viewing it on the East Coast because it’s the final round of 2021 Supercross. Scroll down below to see all the action as we report all the racing LIVE from Rice-Eccles Stadium.
450 MAIN EVENT RESULTS
Ken Roczen was the first to the holeshot line with Marvin Musquin and Cooper Webb in second and third. Cooper was quick to make short work of his teammate, moving up to second place. Chase Sexton started to ride Cooper Webb’s heels but Marvin Musquin would make the pass on Ken’s teammate. Chase Sexton was absolutely flying through the whoops, making the pass on Webb. The racing in between the 450 class was insanely close. Chase Sexton made a passing attempt on his teammate Ken Roczen and would be successful a few turns later. At eleven minutes, lap traffic started to play a huge role. The Monster Energy Star Yamaha team held the fifth through seventh position. At eight minutes remaining, Cooper Webb started to close the gap once again on Ken Roczen and would bump him wide, taking second place. Marvin followed his teammate’s lead, passing Kenny as well.
Ken Roczen proceeded to fall through the pack allowing both Dylan Ferrandis and Malcolm Stewart to pass. With four and a half minutes remaining, Cooper Webb started to close the gap on Chase Sexton. Chase made a mistake in a turn allowing Cooper to grab the lead. Ken fell down to ninth place with two minutes left. Cooper Webb would take home another victory and the 2021 450 championship.
450 HEAT 2 RESULTS
Jason Anderson was the first to the holeshot with Cooper Webb and Aaron Plessinger following insanely close behind. Justin Barcia sat in fourth place with Chase Sexton in fifth. The top three chased each other and didn’t let up. Justin Barcia made the pass on Chase Sexton for fourth place and proceeded to close the gap on Aaron. Dylan Ferrandis made a late race charge passing Chase and closing the gap on Barcia. Chase made the pass back on Ferrandis and hung close to Justin Barcia. Jason Anderson won the second Heat Race.
450 HEAT 1 RESULTS
The first 450 Heat took off and it was Eli Tomac who sent his bike across the holeshot line first. Marvin Musquin and Ken Roczen sat in second and third but a few turns later, Ken made the pass on the KTM rider. Malcolm Stewart followed the 94 and made the pass on Marvin as well. Several laps in, Eli’s lead grew to two and a half seconds but Ken showed incredible speed through the whoops. Eli Tomac won with over a five second lead. Ken rode great but Eli had found some seriously fast lines.
450 LCQ RESULTS
