Eli Tomac made no bones about how badly he needed to win the 2021 Daytona Supercross. He was 30 points behind Ken Roczen in the title chase and looking ill at ease in the stadiums. He knew that the big, fast, rough, outdoor, Daytona track, where he had won four times before, was custom-made for his style of racing and hoped that a win at Round Nine of the series, would invigorate his racing for the remaining eight races. And when the gate dropped on the 700th Supercross race in history, Eli came up the inside, waited for Roczen and Webb to go wide and tucked his KX450 around the corner to ride to an easy victory. The rest is history, as Eli Tomac joins Ricky Carmichael as the only 5 time winners of the Daytona Supercross.
