WORLD VET DAY ONE RESULTS: MIKE BROWN OWNS THE OVER-40 CLASS

Mike Brown used two massive holeshots to seal the deal against thirty-three riders from England, Canada, Germany, Australia, Norway, Sweden and the United States.

Glen Helen’s 40-foot American flag flew at half-mast for the passing of World Vet Motocross Championship’s founder, Tom White, who passed away on the eve of the 33rd annual race.

Mike Brown opened up massive leads on the first three laps of each moto and then cruised to 15-second victories.

Japanese rider Kenjiro Tsuji put up hard fights to secure third overall in the Over 40 Pro Class with a 4-3 day.

Kurt Nicol was the 2015 Over-40 Pro World Champion, but a bad start in the second moto this year left him charging from behind to try to salvage a podium finish. He ended up with 3-4 score for 4th overall for the day. Kurt will focus on the Over-50 crown on Sunday.

Todd DeHoop (25) ran second early in the first moto, but when Doug Dubach (15) and Kurt Nicol (2) showed up on his rear wheel, he was quickly shuffled back to 6th place. Todd finished 8th overall with a 6-9 day.

How close can you get?!! Nicol, Dubach and DeHoop ran in close formation for over two laps before Doug and Kurt got by Todd.

Jeff “Chicken” Matiasevich was on hand to add a sense of flavor to the proceedings. Chicken is still a crowd favorite.

Brian Wheeler from Gios, England, finished seventh overall with an 8-7 day.

Jeremy Chaussee was 6th overall on a KX450.

Matt Karlsen was the top placing two-stroke with a 9th overall. Here he is chased by Canadian Marc Dionne.
