CHASE SEXTON INJURY UPDATE: OUT FOR 2021 ORLANDO SUPERCROSS 2, SET TO RETURN AT DAYTONA
The 2021 Orlando Supercross 2 is set to kick off this Saturday, February 20th, inside of the Camping World stadium. This will be the second of two races in Orlando, Florida, and unfortunately, factory HRC Honda’s Chase Sexton will miss this Round as well. Originally, there was talk that Chase would return to the races at the beginning of the Indianapolis residency for Round 4 of the season. Then, the Honda team said in a press release that he would be back on the gate at Round 6, the third of three races in Indianapolis. Then, once again the timetable changed as the HRC Honda team mentioned that Sexton would try to make it back to the races at Round 7 in Orlando. Now, the team has said that Chase will miss Round 8 in Orlando, this Saturday and he will set his sights on the Daytona Supercross which is set to kick off on March 6th.
After this Saturday’s race in Orlando, the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross season will take a weekend off before kicking off Round 9 at Daytona. Luckily for Chase, the extra week off will give him more time to heal and get back to 100 percent. The Honda Racing team said: “@chasesexton continues to rehabilitate his injured shoulder from his Houston 2 crash and will not be at the final round in Orlando this weekend, but he is feeling better, back on the bike and will return in Daytona!”
Chase Sexton posted via instagram: “Very happy to be back on the bike and back to normal. I’ve been working my but off with therapy / strengthening my shoulder the past 3 weeks. Monday was my first day back and feeling very good on the bike already. With that being said just the lack of seat time over the past month my team @honda_racing_us and I have decided it’s better to come out at 100% for Daytona in a little over 2 weeks! I can’t wait to be back racing and seeing you all real soon”
