GRAND PRIX OF MAGGIORA: QUADAGNINI WINS THE 250 GP & JEFFREY HERLINGS WINS MXGP

Tim Gajser looked unbeatable heading to Italy, but a 5-6 day in Maggiora, Italy, at the third round of the 18-race 2021 World Motocross Championship, didn’t help his points total very much. Jeffrey Herlings, who hasn’t been all that great in the first two MXGP races, got the win in Maggiora with a 6-1 score, which attests to how tough the track was in moto one and how slippery it was in moto two. Herlings is now only 6 points behind Gajser.

The 250 World Championship has been thrown wide open by the hand injury to current 250 Champion Tom Vialle. Vialle tried to ride again this weekend, but the result was the same as last week in England. He was in too much pain and had to pull off the track. That left the door open for a surprise win by Italian Matt Guadagnini who went 2-1, Maxime Renaux was second, but earned 10 less GP points than Guadagnini—who took over the points lead in the 2021 250 World Championship with 113 points to Renaux’s 111 points.
