JEREMY MARTIN 2021 ORLANDO SUPERCROSS 2 INJURY UPDATE

Jeremy Martin’s wreck at the 2021 Orlando Supercross 2 was the biggest crash of the night and it got the most TV time as 250 rookie, Stilez Robertson, landed on Jeremy directly after the start of the 250 Main Event. Stilez Robertson’s get-off wasn’t easy, he slammed the next jump hard as well, but he was lucky enough to get back on his bike and continue the race after it was red flagged and restarted, albeit without a front fender.

From a spectators point of view, it’s difficult to say who was in the wrong here and we chalk it up to the category of “racing incidents”. In our latest ‘This Week in MXA‘ video, MXA’s Josh Mosiman talks briefly on the subject and brings to light the fact that this jump after the start wasn’t simple. It was a short step up with a steep landing that required finesse to land on the downside correctly so that the riders could continue on smoothly through the rhythm section. Without finesse, it was easy to clip the top or over jump the step up, which threw off the riders rhythm for the rest of the straightaway. If the jump after the start wasn’t as technically challenging, the risk for riders jumping on top of each other might’ve been lower.

Sadly, Jeremy’s incident wasn’t the only one from the opening lap as his brother, Alex Martin, crashed on the next straightaway and suffered a concussion, (read Alex Martin’s injury update by clicking here).

Jeremy Martin took to social media to address the crash and confirm that he suffered a dislocated shoulder. Jeremy said: “Many of you saw the big crash I was involved in off the start in Orlando. Unfortunately, it left me with a dislocated left shoulder. I got an MRI on Monday and have had some really good conversations with some good doctors about what’s the best plan for my return. At this early stage, I don’t know when I’ll be back yet. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who reached out to me. I really appreciate the support.”

Wil Hahn – Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing 250 Team Manager stated:“Jeremy was riding great at last weekend’s season opener, so it’s a bummer to have him sidelined with an injury. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back out there.”
