In the current field of 450 racers, Josh Grant is a veteran of the class. Having entered the class in 2008, Grant has had successes, but also many unfinished seasons due to injury. After Chad Reed’s TwoTwo Motorsports team folded, Grant raced as a fill-in rider for Wil Hahn in the 2015 season. Once the season was over, he raced the 2015 MXGP round at Glen Helen, finishing second overall. At the beginning of the 2016 season, no-one was even sure if Josh Grant would be racing as he could not find a ride. He went full privateer later on in the season aboard a Suzuki RM-Z450 to race Daytona. His performance caught the eye of Kawasaki and would fill in for an injured Wil Hahn once again. Grant seemed strong entering the 2016 AMA National season. He would finish in the top ten the first three races and entered High Point sixth in the championship points. A crash early on in first moto at Mt. Morris ended his day early. Grant, at the time, did not know that would be his last race of the 2016 season.
PRESS RELEASE: Monster Energy Kawasaki fill in rider Josh Grant will have surgery in the coming days to resolve the long-term injury to his ankles. Grant is expected to miss the remainder of the 2016 season and with Grant sidelined, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Tyler Bowers will step up to the 450cc Class and fill in for the injured Wil Hahn at the Redbud National on July 2nd in Buchanan, Michigan.
