WESTON PEICK IN FOR SURGERY, BARCIA STILL ON THE SIDELINES

jeremy-albrecht_2015_jgrmxJGR team manager, Jeremy Albrecht fills us in on the injuries of his riders, Justin Barcia and Weston Peick.

Jeremy Albrecht answers some questions for us about the injuries of his rider,s Weston Peick and Justin Barcia. He lets us in on their status and when they will hopefully be back on the bike.

What’s Justin Barcia’s status for returning to the track?
He hasn’t ridden yet, because he’s letting his wrist heal up. He tried riding a bit, but it wasn’t getting any better. Next week he’s going to ride and we’ll go from there. Hopefully he races Supercross here soon.

Do you have an update on Weston Peick’s condition after crashing at Phoenix?
Weston has surgery on Sunday night. Everything went well. He’ll know more after he goes to his first check-up on having a timeframe for coming back. I feel like things could have been worse with regard to his crash. He got out of the hospital a day earlier than what doctors had originally said, so that’s a positive. Hopefully he can get back and make some Supercross rounds. If not, he will definitely be ready as soon as he can. He wants to race.

With Weston out for the foreseeable future, will you have a fill-in rider?

We’re using a fill-in rider already, with Jake Weimer racing for Justin Barcia. This weekend at Oakland we’re racing with Weimer in the 450 class and Phil Nicoletti in the 250 class. Once I hear how Justin is this next week I’ll be able to make a plan accordingly. I hope that Justin comes back soon, and we’ll continue with Jake. The sport changes quickly, and I try to come up with the best plan as things develop.
