KAILUB RUSSELL OUT FOR REMAINING NATIONALS DUE TO INJURY

Kailub Russell will not lineup for the remaining two AMA Nationals for 2018.

Five-time GNCC champ, Kailub Russell impressed the world and probably himself after running third for the majority of moto one at the 2018 Unadilla National. He felt at home in the mud and was riding like a true veteran of the sport. Unfortunately, in the second moto in New York, Russell had a crash that resulted in a badly bruised elbow and shoulder. Due to the extent of the injury, Kailub will not lineup for the last two AMA Nationals.

Kailub Russell: “I fell in Moto 2 at Unadilla and banged myself up. My elbow and shoulder are bruised and sore, so I haven’t been able to ride all week. I’m disappointed for sure, but it’s important for me to be 100% in order to perform my best against these guys and get the results that I’m capable of.”

Russell, who was originally slated to compete in the final three rounds of the 2018 Pro Motocross Championship as a fill-in rider for the U.S. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team, had a stand-out performance in his first-ever 450MX moto last weekend. The multi-time offroad champion ran as high as third-place in Moto 1, where he ultimately finished an impressive sixth-place against the best racers in the world. Russell kept his momentum going with a top-five start in Moto 2 but he was quickly stopped in his tracks when another rider went down in front of him, causing him to crash and bust his rear brake pedal. From there, Russell experienced another hard crash that ultimately took him out of the race.

Russell will return to GNCC Racing on Sunday, Sept. 16 in Harpursville, New York, where he will battle for his sixth-straight title aboard his FMF KTM Factory Racing 350 XC-F. For more information, please visit www.gnccracing.com.
