LOMMEL MOTOCROSS GP: HERLINGS’ RECOVERY, FEBVRE’S 450 WIN & GAJSER BIG LEAD SHRINKS

When Jeffrey Herlings broke his shoulder blade and had to miss a round and-a-half of the 2021 FIM World Motocross Championship everyone assumed that he would miss more races,while he healed up. Herlings lost a lot of points, but he came back his weekend, most likely against his doctors advice, and won the first moto and took a fifth in moto 2 to stand on th esecond step of the 450 podium. Romain Febvre took the 450 GP victory and moved to within 5 points of Tim Gajser in the championship chase. Ageless Tony Cairoli is third in season points behind Gajser and Febvre, while Jorge Prado is fourth. Jeffrey Herlings had a good day, but is still 42 points out of the lead.

In the 250 class, Jago Geerts took the Lommel win, while the winningest 250 GP riders of 2021, Mattia Guadagnini, fell several times and is now 21 points behind Maxime Renaux in the 250 title chase.
