MATT GOERKE TAKES OVERALL WIN AT MUNICH SUPERCROSS; ALESSI STILL LEADS SERIES

Matt Goerke had a 4-1 weekend in Munich to beat Mike Alessi for the overall victory when Mikey went 1-4. Alessi was winning the 450 main event on Sunday, but the race was red flag when Bobby Kiniry crashed. On the restart, Goerke got to the front and Alessi crashed into Filip Neugebauer which took both of them down. Neugebauer remounted for third and Alessi crossed the finish line in fourth. In the two-day overall it was Goerke (4-1), Alessi (1-4) and French rider Florent Richier (2-10) third. Mike Alessi leads the series with 88 points over Matt Goerke’s 84 points. The final round of the German Supercross series will be held in Dortmund on January 6-7, which conflicts with the start of the 2012 AMA Supercross series?so Mike Alessi won’t be there.

AUSTRALIA’S McADAM PARK UNDER ATTACK AGAIN

It was just a two years ago that the Australian Motorcycling Association raised $3 million dollars to buy McAdam Motocross Park to save it from closure. Now, the future of the McAdam Park motocross venue appears to be under a cloud after the state planning tribunal ruled that new facilities would be subject to complex and expensive state planning controls. Local residents considered the ruling a victory for them against the track. “This is a crucial decision for residents as it means there will be controls now around the development of the park,” Barrabool Rural Protection Group spokesperson Paul Morgan said. The VCAT ruling not only applies to infrastructure at the venue, but also for any substantial modifications to the actual track, such as the construction of new jumps. The Geelong city council had made a previous offer to trade the McAdam land for land next to the Avalon Airfield. That idea will be reviewed.
