TWO-STROKE SPOTLIGHT | JESPER KILINK’S KX500AF

Jesper didn’t give us many details about his KX500AF build. However, you can see many trick parts on the bike if you look closely such as the Fox Podium shock and HGS pipe.

Editor’s note: Please keep those submissions coming. If you would like your bike to be featured in the “Two-Stroke Spotlight,” please email me at [email protected]. All I ask is that you give a breakdown of your bike and a detailed description of the build. Please also send a few photos of your steed. By submitting your bike for the “Two-Stroke Spotlight,” you agree to release all ownership rights to the images and copy to MXA.

40-YEAR-OLD MXA TEST RIDER QUALIFIES AT THE 2021 FOX  RACEWAY NATIONAL

Dennis Stapleton made the “Fast 40” at the Fox Raceway National to race the best in the world.

We think Dennis is nuts. He about broke his back while racing at Loretta’s less than a month ago. He still has the huge lump on his back to prove it. Last Thursday Dennis was out at Glen Helen and he mentioned he might race with the kids that weekend. “Sure Dennis,” we said. Our jaw dropped when we saw him in the 450 qualifying practice at the Fox Raceway AMA National.

Dennis is nuts, not because he raced not long after a neck injury, he is nuts because of how much he loves racing. He has been racing his entire life at a high level and it never gets old for him. For a 40-year-old racer to qualify against a stack 450 National field of 20-year-olds is very impressive. Dennis is a very rare breed that is willing to race anywhere in the world—which, to date, includes 20 different countries. He raced his first AMA National in 2000 as a 20-year old and his latest one a a 40-year-old.

Thanks, Dennis for all that you do for the sport, MXA and old racers at every track in America. You are a true inspiration for those who say it is too late to do great things.

MXA’S JOSH MOSIMAN TO RACE LAST 450 NATIONAL ROUND AT HANGTOWN

While Josh was taking photos of his brother, Michael Mosiman last weekend at the Fox Raceway National, Josh got the idea that he wanted to race the AMA 450 Nationals again. So he called Davey Coombs from MX Sports the day after Pala to see if he could expedite an AMA license to race Saturday’s Hangtown National. Davey said, “No problem.” Josh then called the rest of the MXA crew and they were on board.

Since there are only a few days to get ready, Jody brought Josh a bone-stock 2022 KTM 450SXF to Glen Helen on Tuesday to get some laps in and tune the stock WP AER air forks. The only upgrades to the bike will be some DeCal Works graphics and a Guts seat cover. We are excited for Josh, who raced his first-ever race at Hangtown years ago—and the Mosiman brothers haven’t been on a National track together since Josh retired from Supercross and the Nationals to become an MXA guy. If you are going to Hangtown make sure you cheer him on! Oh yeah, his wife Ashley will be pit boarding him at the races, while her father, Chris Cole, pits for Fredrik Noren.
