MOTOCROSS ACTION MID-WEEK REPORT

LAP TIME WARS // TOMAC & SEXTON ON ANOTHER LEVEL

Both Eli Tomac and Chase Sexton were racing no one else but each other at Pala.

For the top two racers to be 5 seconds a lap faster than the next best guy is more than incredible. Chase Sexton and Eli Tomac have been the guys to beat all year, although neither of them has ridden to such an intense level all year as what they displayed this last weekend at Pala. Especially in the first moto.

They both laid their cards on the table and gave it everything they had. Tomac just had the speed with the added experience to go with it. If you looked at the lap times from both the 250 and 450 class, in general, the 250 guys were a bit faster than the riders behind Tomac and Sexton. This was due to just how hard-packed and rough the track got. A track like this is usually easy to ride on a 250 and can push the limits on a smaller displacement bike. Below are the best times of the top 10 riders in the first 450 moto.

MXA’S JOSH MOSIMAN RACES THE FOX RACEWAY 2 NATIONAL

A1 // 2016 // MARK WORTH // THE CRASH SEQUENCE WE WON’T FORGET

Motorcycle Superstore/Suzuki’s Mark Worth planned on making waves in his rookie Supercross campaign in 2016, but the dream didn’t last an entire lap. Worth led the very first practice of the 250 unseeded group and dropped his front end over the dragon’s back. He torpedoed into the ground and his right leg got caught between the handlebars and footpeg. The impact resulted in a dislocated hip and a dislocated/fractured elbow. See the crash sequence below. Supercross giveth, and Supercross taketh away.

MOTO TIP OF THE WEEK // IF IT ISN’T BARCIA DON’T WORRY ABOUT WHO IS BEHIND YOU

0Q7A7815

MOTO TIP: When you are leading a race, one of the worst things you can do is start looking back. This will give the rider behind you a sense that you are weak and losing steam. It will make you lose focus—and valuable time. Plus, you can’t go forward fast, if you aren’t looking where you are going. Keep the focus on yourself and race the track.

FOR SALE! IN-HOUSE EMPLOYEE’S 1984 SUZUKI RM250

Looking for a collector bike to race at the vintage races or two-stroke races? This 1984 RM250 has all the bones needed to for a great project bike.

The best thing about this bike is that it is completely original, save for the added spark arrestor. The bike is in good shape for a 38-year-old bike. The engine has compression and would start if the carb and tank were cleaned out as the bike has been sitting for a while. Our in-house guy is looking to get $3000 for the well-taken care of machine. Contact [email protected] for inquiries.

If you buy this bike, MXA we will through in some grips for you! Also whoever raced this bike sure had a strange lever position!

If you are asking what is on top of the seat, that is the original kickstand that came with the bike. Can’t believe he didn’t toss that useless piece of metal in the trash after all these years.
