WHAT IS IT? The EKS Brand EZ-Tear Strap Ramp is a simple plastic device that slips onto your goggle strap to enable tear-offs to be dispensed one at a time. Although not as calamitous as an earthquake or tsunami, pulling all of your tear-offs at one time is a major motocross disaster. The EKS Brand EZ-Tear Strap ramp means that you’ll still be able to see where you’re going late in a moto.
WHAT’S IT COST? $12.99.

WHAT STANDS OUT? Here’s a list of things that stand out with the EKS Brand EZ-Tear Strap ramp.
(1) Design. Nothing could be simpler in design than the EZ-Tear Strap ramp. It is little more than a hollow, scoop-shaped, plastic container that holds the next tear-off in the on-deck circle until it’s needed. It slips over your goggle strap and can be positioned in the perfect spot to accept the long tear-off tabs. It fits on almost every brand of goggles, not just EKS Brand goggles.
(2) Function. The EZ-Tear is a hollow, ramp-shaped device that encases the folded tear-off tabs to allow only the top tear-off tab to be exposed. When you reach up to pull a tear-off, your thumb is guided by the ramp directly to the top tear-off tab. Then, once the top tear-off is pulled, the next one pops out from the hollow ramp. The shape of the plastic ramp is what allows the next tear-off tab to be ejected out of the plastic scoop.
(3) Performance. This is a semi-brilliant idea. It does solve the problem of grabbing all of your tear-offs at one time, but it does require a certain amount of trial and error to get it right, which is why it is “semi-brilliant.” The art of folding the ends of the tear-off tabs so that they will stay tucked in is a learn-as-you-go experience. If you fold the tear-off tabs so that the loose end is too long, the next tear-off won’t pop out; too short and it will pop out when you are putting your goggles on. Mastering the exact technique takes some experimenting, but once you find the sweet spot, you will never grab a handful of tear-offs again. We typically slid the EZ-Tear Strap ramp as close to the goggles as we could. One other caveat: put your goggles over your helmet very gently, or run the risk of the tear-offs popping out when you stretch the elastic goggle strap.
WHAT’S THE SQUAWK? Expect to have a few failures before mastering folding the tear-off tabs perfectly. If you do it wrong, you will fire all six bullets in your six-shooter immediately. Do it right and you’ll be able to choose your target and pull the tear-offs as you go.
