WHAT STANDS OUT? Here’s a list of things that stand out with the MindFX Athene X-treme performance powder.

(1) Objective. There has been an explosion of energy drink companies in recent years. Companies load an assortment of energy-boosting ingredients—some natural, but most processed—into the biggest can possible and make millions of dollars. MindFX has taken an alternate approach. MindFX Athene X-treme performance powder aims to boost mental focus by using natural ingredients and adaptogenic (acting to normalize and regulate the body) herbs.

(2) Ingredients. The 11.5-gram packet of Athene X-treme contains vitamin C (500mg), niacin (20mg), vitamin B6 (50mg), vitamin B12 (750mcg), potassium (457mg), sodium (160mg) and phosphorous (98mg). The X-treme blend also contains rhodiola rosea extract, ginko biloba extract, panax ginseng extract, caffeine anhydrous (75mg), synephrine and theobromine. Each packet is 35 calories and contains 8 grams of sugar.

(3) Performance. Aldon Baker, trainer to the stars, endorses MindFX, so the MXA wrecking crew gave it a try. The result? We had an increased amount of energy that was noticeable for over an hour (the length of time varied depending on the person). We didn’t get headaches or have the typical energy-drink-crash sensation. The mixture tasted like tropical berry, but the flavor didn’t appeal to everyone.

WHAT’S THE SQUAWK? Two quibbles: (1) We’re leery of ingesting ingredients that we cannot pronounce. (2) If you are sensitive to caffeine, then MindFX isn’t for you. Do not give this to children.

4-STARS
Maybe it’s just us, and Ryan Villopoto, but this stuff works. Every tester felt a boost in energy after drinking the MindFX Athene X-treme (and there was no delayed crash). We were impressed by the results.
