MXA TWO-STROKE NEWS: EUROS GET ANOTHER NEW TWO-STROKE (125, 250 & 300)

The 2011 Fantic Motor 250 Caballero.

There is a wide range of all-new two-strokes being offered in Europe, beyond the typical American fare of KTM, Yamaha, Gas Gas, TM and Husqvarna. Classic Italian small bike builder Fantic has big plans for its new line of Fantic Caballero models?including new 125cc, 250cc and 300cc two-strokes. The Italian bikes will use Gas Gas engines?plus the airbox and rear fender are from the Gas Gas two-stroke. Fantic is offering it as an offroad model only (as opposed to motocross versions).

As more builders begin to reappreciate the value of chromoly frames, Fantic takes it a step further with their unique trellis design.

The suspension is composed of Marzocchi Shiver forks (45mm on the 125cc and 50mm on the 250 and 300). The rear shock is an Ohlins. Federico Fregnan, Fantic head honcho, says that, “for the components we chose, where possible, to use Italian products. In addition, we built these new models with significant details such as billet triple clamps that allows adjustment of the steering head angle over a 3-degree range (plus or minus 1.5 degrees). The unique perimeter trellis frame is made from chromoly steel. The Fantic uses dual-piston caliper front and single piston rear Nissin brakes (with a 260mm Braking front rotor). The claimed weight of the 125 is 202 pounds, while 250 and 300 hit the scales at 222 pounds (over 20 pounds less than most 450 four-strokes). The 250 and 300 are available with electric start.

The Fantic Motor 300 Caballero can be order with electric start.

If you look at the water pump and clutch side case, you can see the Gas Gas logo.

As with all limited-edition Italian bikes the price will be in the $9000 range (and it will not be available in the USA). For more info, in Italian, go to www.fanticmotor.it
