• TRAVIS PASTRANA TO RACE THE DAYTONA 500 AS BUBBA WALLACE’S TEAMMATE
Former AMA 125 National Champion Travis Pastrana wants to race the NASCAR Daytona 500 in a Black Rifle Coffee Company sponsored Toyota. Travis will be attempting to qualify for the 500 in car number 67 with Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick as his teammates. Travis is not a newcomer to NASCAR. Back in 2013 he finished 10th at Daytona in the Xfinity Series race. Travis has 42 starts in the Xfinity Series and five starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Travis last NASCAR race was in the truck series at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2020. But, make no mistake Travis is a talented automobile racer and is a four-time Rally America Champion and has raced the Global RallyCross, Monster Jam, Race of Champions and is currently racing the Nitro Rallycross series..
Along with experience in the K&N Pro Series, Pastrana has 42 starts in the Xfinity Series and five starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, where he most recently competed at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the fall of 2020. He has won seven championships across supercross, motocross and rally racing and has amassed 11 gold medals in moto and rally car events at the X Games.
“I’m thrilled at the chance to race in the Daytona 500,” Pastrana said in a statement released by the team. “It’s the one event every year that all my friends and family come together to watch at our buddy Dale’s house, and it’s an event I’ve wanted to race my entire life. My first supercross win came at Daytona when I was 16 years old, and I qualified third at Daytona for the Xfinity series in 2013. That race didn’t end up well, but I was able to finish 10th despite the fact I crossed the finish line backward through the infield grass at 180 mph.
• BUDGET BIKE SHOOTOUT: 2023 SUZUKI RM-Z250 FOUR-STROKE “VERSUS” YAMAHA YZ125 TWO-STROKE
Motocross Action took the 2023 Suzuki RMZ250 four-stroke and the 2023 Yamaha YZ125 two-stroke to the track to find out which bike performed better on the track. Why those two bikes? They are both race models, compete in the same class and are the two most affordable bikes on the showroom floors. We wanted to find out which budget racer had the best lap time? Which bike would be best for a Vet rider? Which bike would better suit a Pro/Intermediate rider? We answer all these questions in this video and give you a winner!
• DON’T MISS THE ELEKTRODE EXPERIENCE AT A SUPERCROSS NEAR YOU
Kawasaki is thrilled to announce that. the Kawasaki Elektrode Experience will be stopping at several Monster Energy Supercross FanFests this year, including San Diego this weekend. The Elektrode Experience will take place in multiple major markets throughout the 2023 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship season—Arlington, Daytona, Glendale, Atlanta, East Rutherford and Salt Lake City.
“The Elektrode Experience gives some of the youngest Supercross fans an opportunity to experience the fun-packed Elektrode electric balance bike first-hand in a safe, controlled and fun environment,” said Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A. Director of Marketing, Bob O’Brien.
• CLASSIC MXA PHOTOS: RIDING THE PIT ELEVATOR
Whenever MXA takes a bike off of the electric Power Lift bike stand to go race, Pashs Afshar’s daughter and Randel Fout’s son take turns riding it up and down.
If we take the electric stand away from them, they find an empty box, in this case and EZ-Up box, and play robot with it.
• FOX’S SOCAL HEADQUARTERS SOLD, BUT IT WASN’T OWNED BY FOX
According to the Orange County Register: Rexford Industrial Realty has acquired the Fox Racing headquarters in Irvine, California, for $40 million. The 82,645-square-foot building is leased to the extreme sports company, Fox, which was acquired in August 2022 by Vista Outdoor for $540 million. Vista owns 40 brands in the outdoor apparel and accessories market including Remington Ammunition, Bushnell, CamelBak, Bushnell Golf, Bell Helmets, Giro, QuietKat and Federal Ammunition.
The lobby.
Griffin Realty Trust, the seller, bought the building at 16752 Armstrong Ave. for $27.25 million in October 2013. The facility, with a distinctive, arched red entrance and adjacent BMX track, has “themed architecture” that spans two floors of office space with conference rooms, common areas, a lobby and designated workspaces. Fox has a lease and technically a new landlord, so they aren’t moving.
• SWAN RACEWAY IN TYLER, TEXAS, FOR SALE
Swan MX is the oldest continuously running racetrack in Texas and has seen motorcycle activity for over 48 years. It wasn’t until the last 30 years that the facility began to develop into what you see today. Swan MX offers some of the finest amenities that you will find in the sport of motocross.

• BROOME-TIOGA SPORTS CENTER RACEWAY IN BINGHAMTON, NEW YORK, FOR SALE
The famous Broome-Tioga Sports Center AMA National track in Binghamton, New York is up for sale. Broome held AMA Nationals for 27 straight years (1979 to 2006). The track sits on 198 acres of land with a 4600 square-foot two-story house, 5 bedrooms and a 3-car garage. The track is still operational with everything a buyer would need to run a racetrack. The Hurd Family have run the track for 40 years. They are asking for $1,300,000. Serious inquiries should email them at btsc4sale@gmail.com.
• PRO CIRCUIT LOSES ONE RIDER, GAINS ANOTHER AND LOSES A THIRD
The Pro Circuit team lost Austin Forkner to an unfortunate crash on his way to the first turn at Anaheim I. Forkner suffered an ACL tear, which will keep him off the bike for the remainder of the 2023 Supercross season. But, they signed Carson Mumford, who himself is just barely healed from a broken wrist, while testing with the BarX Suzuki team, to fill-in for Forkner in the 250 West.
While all this was going on, Ryder DiFrancesco, who is on the Pro Circuit team, but slated to race the Amateur-based Supercross Futures events got hurt. Ryder crashed in practice and and tore his thumb ligament off the bone. It is a simple operation, but thumbs take time to heal.
Pro Circuit won’t need another fill-in rider because DiFrancesco isn’t schedule to join the factory-backed Kawasaki team until the AMA 250 Nationals start in May. Supercross Futures is only a four-race series (with a finale at the last race in Salt Lake City). DiFransesco could miss two of the four.

• MXA’S AD OF THE WEEK: THE 1983 MAICO SAND SPIDER
In the early 1980s Maico was riding a wave of success brought on by the 1981 Maico 490 Mega-2. It was the ultimate Saddleback Park race machine. Saddlebck was a hard-pack track, where the Maico’s incredible turning accuracy and broad torquey powerband excelled. In 1983, Maico, in hopes of expanding its buying audience, introduced the Sand Spider for the California desert. Maico’s were great motocross bikes, but they weren’t desert bombers.

• 2023 WORLD SUPERCROSS (WSX) DATES ANNOUNCED—NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED
The 2023 FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX) will be six races long with events in France, Germany, Canada, Australia, England and round is Southeast Asia to be announced at a later date. This is not the blockbuster race schedule that everyone expected to compete against the 17-round AMA Supercross Championship. The WSX does not start until after the AMA series is over, and in fact, WSX starts after four AMA outdoor Nationals have been concluded. There are two dates that compete directly against the 2023 AMA Nationals (July at Red Bud and July 22 at Washougal).
