The Premier class has landed in Oakland for the second round of the 2022 Monster Energy Supercross season. Ken Roczen leads in the points but before we witness the gate drop, we have to get through qualifying first. The Oakland track provides a lot of rhythm with many opportunities to make some passes. The day started off cloudy but the sun broke through the clouds, starting to dry the wet track. Scroll down below to find out who was fastest in Oakland for the second round of the season.

We thought Dylan would be the fastest qualifier, but his teammate Eli Tomac would sneak in an insanely fast lap time just seconds before the session ended.

At the beginning of the second qualifying session, Ken Roczen went down in the whoops nearly getting his head hit by his teammate Chase Sexton as he blitzed the whoops. Thankfully, Ken Roczen dodged a bullet and he got up quickly to his bike. Eli Tomac was insanely fast on the Oakland track as he looked incredibly smooth. Eli Tomac, Malcolm Stewart, and Adam Cianciarulo were the top 3 riders in the second session as they all made it within the sub-1 minute lap time.

A lap later, Cooper Webb and Dylan Ferrandis would join the pack, both getting in the 59 second lap time. Dylan Ferrandis went very fast a lap later, jumping to the top of the leaderboard with a 59.258. Only four seconds separated the first place rider from the 22nd. Marvin Musquin moved up to fourth place with a 59.688 but it would be Cooper Webb who would move all the way up to the top with a 59.256. And with no surprise, Dylan Ferrandis took back the top spot with a lap left but would get beat out just seconds before the qualifying session ended by his teammate, Eli Tomac.

450 GROUP A FIRST QUALIFYING SESSION // OAKLAND

Eli Tomac would be the fastest qualifier in the first session.

The qualifying times for the 450 class were insanely close, with the top 5 being within the same second of each other and the top 13 following just a second behind. Chase Sexton led the pack with Cooper Webb in second place but eventually, Dylan Ferrandis would grab the second-fastest position. Dean Wilson through down a heater grabbing the third-fastest position with points leader Ken Roczen in fifth place.

Eventually, Malcolm Stewart rode a very fast lap jumping up to third place but it wasn’t long till Eli Tomac made everyone jump a position down as he grabbed the fastest qualifying time, almost breaking into the sub-1 minute lap time.
