“PASHA 125 OPEN” TWO-STROKE RACE THIS SATURDAY AT GLEN HELEN
The Pasha 125 Open is the strangest two-stroke race you will ever attend (and you can race at the same event even if you don’t have a 125 two-stroke, because they will have all the regular classes as a normal race for two- and-four-strokes). What make the Pasha 125 Open is that it consists of only three classes—all of which share a $6000 purse. Not only is there the nomral 125 Pro class, but there is also a money paying class for rider from 30-to-49 years old and one for Over-50 riders. Best of all, if you don’t have a 125 (or 150), you can still race the regular REM classes,
The Pasha 125 Open classes are open to 125 two-strokes (more accurately, two-strokes up to 150cc). Why up to 150cc, because that is the legal limit for the World Two-Stroke Championship. There are no special Pasha classes for 250cc, 300cc or 500cc two-strokes, but you can race them in the regular REM classes against the four-strokes.
At all the Pasha races, the three pay purse money to the top three. It is obvious than an Over-50 Novice doesn’t stand a chance of winning any money against the Over-50 Intermediates and Experts he would have to line up next to, but so what? He gets to rev it up, drop the clutch, go for the holeshot, find someone to battle with and style for awhile.
The $6000 Pro purse divided by three classes (Open Pro, Over-30 Pro and Over-50 Pro). First place pays $1000, second place $600 and third place $400 in each class. This is a 125-only race (for up to 150cc two-strokes). There are no amateur 125 two-stroke classes, if you want to race your 125 two-stroke, you have to accept the money when you win even if you are a Novice! REM will be holding its normal race program for all of the other classes, so you can come out to watch the Pasha 125 Open and race your regular REM event. For more info go to www.remsatmx.com
