REM MOTOCROSS: THE 30-MINUTE MOTOS ARE BACK FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL

One of the biggest differences between local motocross racing, amateur nationals and practicing is the length of the motos. The AMA National Motocross Championship motos are 30-minutes plus two laps long. Are you ready for that? Yes, you can put a stopwatch on your bike and go out for 30 minutes, but it’s not the same as racing flat-out, with a pack of snarling bikes and riders trying to pass you in every corner. To race an AMA National, you need to find out if you can actually go fast for 30 minutes.

The problem? 30 minute Pro motos are hard to come by?Except at REM. Traditionally REM’s Frank Thomason has been holding long motos in the month leading up to the first AMA National for years…and they start again this weekend (and for the next five weekends) as part of REM’s 25th Annual Spring Series. Not only will the Pros go 30 minutes, but so will selected Intermediate classes.

ALL THE DETAILS

REM sign up begins at 8 a.m.. Practice begins at 9 a.m. Sign up closes at 9:30 a.m. Racers must sign up before practice. Practice is segregated by classes, with the exception of practice ONE which is open to all REM racers (except 65cc / 85cc). The riders meetings will be held after practice is over and before the first moto. Racers are given a raffle ticket at sign up for giveaways during the riders meeting. Each week REM raffles off great product awards from their sponsors like No Fear MX, LightSpeed, MTA, EKS Brand, Maxxis , AME Grips, and more. Racing begins about 10:30 a.m.. The races are 30 minutes long for Pros and 15 minutes for all others. Awards are given to the top 30% of all classes.

Additionally, REM members (although you don’t have to be a REM member to race with REM), get $5 off of their entry fee every week and REM members only have to pay $10 at Glen Helen’s front gate on race days (regular Glen Helen practice riders pay $20).
