JIMMY DECOTIS IS STEPPING AWAY FROM RACING
Jimmy Decotis has been battling Lyme Disease and has decided to stop racing to focus on his health. Decotis will be 29-years-old late this year and has been racing the AMA circuit since 2009. He made the top ten in the AMA 250 East/West Championship fives times (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019). Supercross was his strength, in the AMA 250 outdoor Nationals in never crcked the top 20 in season points. His best individual outdoor National was a 15th, but in 250 Supercross Jimmy had three podiums, 11 top fives and 31 top tens.
Jimmy said, “I wanted to update everyone and let you know that I will not be racing the final leg of Supercross starting this weekend. The last thre years I have tried to compete at the highest level in the world while battling my Lyme Disease. I have tried everything in my power to remain healthy while pushing my body to the limits but unfortunately it has caused my health to decline to a point where racing dirt bikes just isn’t in the cards for me at this time. I love this sport with all my heart and I hope one day I can find some more answers so I can go back to doing what I love with my team, sponsors and fans. I’m stepping away from racing for the time being to focus solely on my health and to hopefully get back to the person and racer I was once. The JGRMX team and I have had some incredible results under these circumstances and have built relationships that will last a life time. Thank you guys for always supporting me and going above and beyond.”

THE DAVE MILLER PROJECT: OLD SCHOOL COVID-19 MASKS IN MEMORY OF DAVE
Jimmy Mac, who is famous as Jody’s foil in many Jody’s Box columns, also worked at Suzuki, Bell Helmets, JT Racing, Troy Lee Designs, MOTOcross magazine, MXA and Mountain Bike Action for years, while Curt Evans was MXA’s cartoonist in the 1970s. These two Industry insiders wanted to do something special in memory of their friend Dave Miller, so they had a special run of limited-edition face masks printed up to look like the famous 1970s Scott face mask that racers wore after Jofas, but before full-coverage helmets. They printed just enough to give to as many of Dave’s and their friends as they thought would appreciative them. But, once the masks got out, it started a ground swell of demand for them—and while Jimmy and Curt never planned to print more Scott masks than a handful, so many people asked for them, they decided to order more and sell them to raise money to help Dave Miller’s family through this terrible time.
Jimmy Mac said, “Curt and I just made enough masks from our own use. But once people started asking for them we consider selling them for $20 each as a way to raise money, originally for Dave Miller’ medical expenses and, after his sudden death, for his family. Every cent above our cost would go to Dave’s family. In fact, even if you don’t want a mask, why not donate whatever you can to Dave anyway?”
Since they aren’t running a business, Jimmy and Curt plan to take orders for the $20 masks via email, but not accept any money until the supply of face masks is in their possession, then they will send an email to everyone who requested a mask—before asking for their donations. That way, they will not be holding anyone’s money, until they can deliver the masks.
If you would like to order a face mask in memory of Dave Miller, send an email to email@example.com telling them what you want.

SUPERCROSS IS ON TV STARTING THIS SUNDAY, FOLLOWED BY WEDNESDAY, SUNDAY, WEDNESDAY…
The Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, will resume racing at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 31 and will run through June 21. The final seven, made-for-tv races will be broadcast on NBC networks without fans in attendance. The TV times are for the East Coast, which means that all seven Salt Lake rounds will be held in sunshine. Check you local listing because Supercross is often bumped for women’s lacrosse, bowling or the dog show, but if that happens this year it will be for events filmed in 2018.

AIM EXPO CHANGES ITS DEALER SHOW FROM OCTOBER TO JANUARY, 2021, IN COLUMBUS, OHIO
AIME’s Cinnamon Kernes said, “Timing is everything. Transitioning to the first quarter has been part of a long-term strategic plan for AIMExpo, along with providing more focus on our core audience — dealers. These changes not only align the show with the ideal buying time for dealers and retailers, but also provide the perfect opportunity for brands to reconnect with dealers, kicking off what will be a pivotal year for the industry. This move to January opens the door to partner with a major distributor in a much more strategic and meaningful way.”
