2020 SPRING CREEK NATIONAL | FULL COVERAGE
The 4-time 450 Supercross champion, Ryan Dungey was asked about the rumors of him coming out of retirement and getting back to professional racing during the race coverage from Millville on NBC Sports Gold. With our surprise, Dungey addressed the rumors saying there was truth to them. He added that he has been knocking on the doors of factory teams to potentially get a ride for the 2021 season.
Ryan is no spring chicken. He is 31 years old. The question on the factory team’s minds will be if he has the capibiltiy to keep up with the young guns. Although if team managers were smart, they would give Ryan a ride for his abiltiy to groom their young hotshot racers. Let’s face it, Ryan has been gromed by the best in the business thoughtout the years. When he was first hired onto Suzuki in his rookie year he had Roger Decoster and Ricky Carmichael to guide him. He has the ability to fast track riders that he works with to lead them to success.
The biggest problem is that 2020 was not in Ryan’s favor. The pandemic put uncertainty into the factory teams. The 2021 Supercross season is still an unknown. Until things clear up, Dungey’s appearance back inside the stadiums will be postponed.
We would love to see the champ back racing again. He must feel that he can still win at 31 years old.
