His race team has launched some of the biggest legends in the history of motocross and supercross, including Jeremy McGrath (1991 and 1992) and Ricky Carmichael (1997, 1998 and 1999), and he continues to churn out championships. During the 2013 AMA Nationals, his Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki …

WE RIDE BLAKE BAGGETT’S AMA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP KAWASAKI KX250F

There were times in the 2011 AMA Motocross National Championship series when fans had to scratch their heads and wonder if Pro Circuit team manager Mitch Payton possessed some kind of motocross clairvoyance. His riders swept every step of the podium an amazing number of times?despite fierce competition. Just when we started to consider wearing tinfoil hats around Mitch so he couldn?t read our thoughts, his luck changed. For the 2012 season, his 250 championship effort would rest squarely on the shoulder…

2012 MOTOCROSS DES NATIONS FINAL RESULTS: CONGRATS TO GERMANY; CAIROLI AND HERLINGS ARE THE SAND MASTERS; TEAM USA GETS A DISTANT THIRD OVERALL

Marcus Schiffer, Max Nagl and Ken Roczen are the proud, happy and deserving winners. Winner Team Germany was the most consistent team at the Motocross des Nations. They stayed on two wheels and didn?t make any big mistakes. Team Belgium was determined to win the MXDN at their home track, but in the end they came up four points short. For Rui Goncalves the MXDN was his last ride on Honda’s works prototype. Rui has been replaced by Max Nagl at Honda. Goncalves went 12-10 to push Portugal into the top ten …

The three classes (250, 450 and Open) all race on Saturday and the nation with the lowest score gets first pick at the gate on Sunday. WHO’S WHO AT THE 2012 MOTOCROSS DES NATIONS

There are currently 33 nations signed up for the 2012 Motocross des Nations on September 30 in Belgium. For lots of these nations, they will get no farther than the qualifiers. If  a country isn’t in the top 19 teams after qualifying races, it must go to the B-Final (if there is room)…with only the winner of that consolation race making it into the big show (for which they will be too tired to do anything). Missing from the list (some of whom actually host rounds of the FIM World Championship, bu…

MOTOCROSS ACTION MID-WEEK REPORT (09/19/12)

PREPARING FOR THE MXDN WITH BONES AND PRO CIRCUIT Bones is no stranger to the MXdN. Pro Circuit and Jim “Bones” Bacon have supported many riders at the MXdN over the years. Having a diverse team means always having riders in the event racing for countries like France, South Africa, New Zealand or Canada. Nobody wants to be the weak link that lets down Team USA, so expenses aren’t spared to get the resources needed across the pond for the event. The race will be held this year in the sand of Belgium’s fa…

BLACK & WHITE: THE SELLING OF THE SPORT VERSUS THE SAFETY OF THE RIDERS

Sports have not always been so commercial. There was a time when athletes and teams competed for the honor of the endeavor. It was long, long ago, but there was a time when baseball stadiums weren?t named after cell phone companies, the only name on a bicycle racers jersey was the name of his bike and the Olympics made skiers block out the brand name on the skis they used. Those days are gone. Today, everything is for sale. And, while football and baseball uniforms still remain unadorned with soap, beer…

By John Minert   MXA MINI VIEW: JAKE WEIMER Photos by Scott Mallonee Jake. Yes, the number one spot has been sewn up, but guys are still fighting hard for championship positions at the last round and Jake is fighting for third with Andrew Short. Jake had a few minutes down time while his forks were be…

THE MATH EQUATION THAT WOULD HAND THE 250 NATIONAL MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP TO ELI TOMAC… OR BLAKE BAGGETT

For Baggett, Barcia and Tomac, this kind of disaster has to be avoid. This is Eli Tomac (17) at Hnagtown. Let’s get disaster out of the way first. If either Blake Baggett or Eli Tomac have major issues at Lake Elsinore, the AMA 250 National Motocross Championships will swing to the other rider. A DNF would be sudden death for either one. However, Baggett’s worst moto finish in 2012 was a  sixth in moto one at Washougal, while Tomac had a 10th in moto two at Hangtown. Long-shot Justin Barcia’s worst…
