MOTOCROSS ACTION’S MID-WEEK REPORT BY JOHN BASHER (9/25/13)

PHOTO OF THE WEEK     This is the best that our 2014 KTM 125SX will ever look, because after today we’re going to run it through the wringer, all the while giggling like prepubescent girls going to a nail salon sporting new clothes from the Gap whilst wearing flavored lip gloss and then taking selfies in the front row at a Justin Bieber concert. Teeheehee! YOUR GUIDE TO THIS WEEKEND’S MOTOCROSS DES NATIONAS     There are 41 teams, equating to 123 riders, slated to contest t…

MOTOCROSS ACTION MID-WEEK REPORT (10/24/12)

MXA MINI VIEW: BROC SHOEMAKER Broc and his JNA Kawasaki will be rookies on the AMA circuit. Broc Shoemaker is a local fast-guy around SoCal and the son of the late Mike Shoemaker. When we saw him with his new bike and new sponsors we didn’t recognize him. We were used to seeing him at REM on a Suzuki. We had to find out what was going on. Broc said he was riding for a new team and preparing for his first Supercross season, so we sat down with him and got the details. MXA: Would you tell us about your ra…

WAS JOSH HANSEN LET GO FROM H&H FOR HIS ZWARTE CROSS ANTICS?

Josh Hansen at Zwartecross.                  Photo: Wilco Schellevis-motocrossplanet The Dodge Hart & Huntington team fired Josh Hansen this week, even though he had a year to go on his two-year contract. According to sources close the deal, Hansen didn?t want to leave the team and is in disbelief that his riding half-naked at the Dutch Zwartecross race (and stopping to drink what is assumed to be a beer) would be the reasons’since he raced at the Zwartec…

There were only two serious motocross races at the event, full-sized bikes and 80s. The other classes feature themed bikes an…

MOTOCROSS ACTION’S MID-WEEK REPORT: (08/23/11)

BY JOHN MINERT 450 CHAMPIONSHIP CHASE POINTS BREAKDOWN Apparently, coming off a 250F is the recipe for holeshots…Barcia and Craig demonstrate . They have all been fast, but who has been fast the most often? The numbers don’t lie, so here is a breakdown of the top riders’ finishes and their chances at wearing the crown after it’s all over. They have completed 9 out of 12 races in the series, but for the 450 Championship, only individual moto finishes count. There have been 18 motos, that for all practi…

MOTOCROSS ACTION’S MID-WEEK REPORT: (05/25/11)

By John Basher PHOTO OF THE WEEK: PART 1     It’s nice to see Kevin Windham beyond the realm of stadiums and fluorescent lights. He’s filling in for Trey Canard, but let’s hope that he races all 12 Nationals this summer. MINI-VIEW: DEREK BRUSH     Derek Brush is the wrench behind Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Josh Hansen. Although the racing has headed outdoors and the Supercross series is in the books, it’s hard not to look back and think, ?What if?? What if Ryan Dungey’s cha…

2011 SUPERCROSS POST MORTEM: WHAT THE STATS FROM THIS WEEKEND REALLY MEAN

Stewie has the 450 points lead, but it Is slim. From what the MXA wrecking crew can discern, half of the AMA Pro riders are below average in speed. That may be hard to believe and we can?t blame you for thinking that half of the licensed AMA riders were above the average in speed. Obviously, to make Supercross racing better the AMA needs to make sure that all the riders in the field are above the average speed. Of course, the AMA is incapable of doing this because, as we all know, every person at the AM…

JOHN BASHER’S ANAHEIM 2 SUPERCROSS PHOTO GALLERY – THE SERIES TURNED ON A DIME

Click on the image above to view our Anaheim 2 Supercross photo gallery.     Now that five rounds of the 2011 Monster Energy Supercross series are in the books, the season has turned into a runaway between James Stewart and Ryan Villopoto for the 450 title. As Ryan Dungey can attest to, the points can turn on a dime. Dungey suffered a DNF at Anaheim 2 due to a derailed chain. It’s going to be an uphill battle for the defending champ.     In the 250 class Josh Hansen suffere…

MOTOCROSS ACTION’S MID-WEEK REPORT: (01/12/11)

MOTOCROSS ACTION PHOTO(S) OF THE WEEK Sometimes you win, and other times you find yourself flying through the air like a bean bag. Privateer Josh Greco fit into the latter category during his heat race at Anaheim 1 and wasn?t able to complete the LCQ. Hopefully Josh is injury free and bounces back. Although he didn?t list any sponsors, here’s a plug for Mr. Greco (and a photo of him styling out over the finish line in practice).
