MOTOCROSS ACTION’S MID-WEEK REPORT BY JOHN BASHER (1/1/14)

MXA PHOTO OF THE WEEK     Check out the Anaheim 1 Supercross track. What’s interesting? A few things stand out: (1) That looks like a very long, high-speed start straight. (2) There are two whoop sections. The question is, did Dirt Wurx make the whoops massive? (3) There are two triples. (4) It appears that there is a sand section, which I’m in favor of. (5) Of all the turns on the track, there are six 180-degree turns (seven if you count the tight turn after the finish line) and only two…

MOTOCROSS ACTION’S MID-WEEK REPORT BY JOHN BASHER (9/25/13)

PHOTO OF THE WEEK     This is the best that our 2014 KTM 125SX will ever look, because after today we’re going to run it through the wringer, all the while giggling like prepubescent girls going to a nail salon sporting new clothes from the Gap whilst wearing flavored lip gloss and then taking selfies in the front row at a Justin Bieber concert. Teeheehee! YOUR GUIDE TO THIS WEEKEND’S MOTOCROSS DES NATIONAS     There are 41 teams, equating to 123 riders, slated to contest t…

MOTOCROSS ACTION’S MID-WEEK REPORT BY JOHN BASHER (9/11/13)

9/11/01?NEVER FORGET!     It was 12 years ago that terrorists took the lives of thousands of innocent people and rattled America. Their unjust and horrendous actions caught the country off guard. However, instead of wavering, we joined together and fought back against the injustice and cowardly acts of these terrorists. We will never forget 9/11/01?the innocent lives that were lost, the brave firefighters and first responders, a great American city in ruin, and the freedom that was challe…

MOTOCROSS ACTION’S MID-WEEK REPORT BY JOHN BASHER (8/7/13)

PHOTO OF THE WEEK     We were tickled pink to receive Honda’s invitation to test out their 2014 CRF125FB at Gorman OHV park last week. Intended for beginners and trail riders, the 125FB (Big Wheel) is a sweet ride. It comes with a front disc brake, along with an electric starter and clutch-actuated four-speed transmission. Of course MXA, being MXA , we couldn’t help ourselves when it came time to blowing up berms. That’s Zach Bierbower pushing the CRF125FB to the limit. FIRST THOUGHTS OF …

MINI-VIEW: WIL HAHN By Jim Kimball Photos by Scott Mallonee     By far one of the most likeable riders in the pro pits, Geico Honda’s Wil Hahn has been having a pretty successful 2013.   First he took a hard fought 250 Championship in AMA Supercross, and although he was injured in that final Supercross causing him to miss the first four rounds, he quickly caught up by finishing fifth at Budds Creek.  With the recent announcement that Wil had signed to stay on at Geico Honda…

MOTOCROSS ACTION’S MID-WEEK REPORT (07/17/12)

By John Basher PHOTO OF THE WEEK     I have a lot of respect for Jamie Moyer, the journeyman baseball player in MLB, a 46-year-old that has been pitching professionally since 1986. That’s a loooooong career. No disrespect to Jamie, but I think what John Dowd and Mike Brown are doing is much more dramatic. Dowd (46 years old) and Brown (40) are still risking their lives, all these years later, and competing at the highest level. Moyer probably has to ice his arm after an outing, but Dowd a…
