Justin Barcia’s bike all done up to look like Donnie Hansen’s 1982 Honda CR250 two-stroke. Love the fake fork boots. Donnie Hansen’s bike all done up to look like…oh yeah. This is what it actually looked like.

THIS MUCH WE KNOW: HOW TO TELL IF YOUR SHOCK SPRING IS TOO SOFT? WITHOUT REMOVING IT FROM THE BIKE

Do you weigh less than 175 pounds? More? Don?t know? Well, if you aren?t average (weight-wise, speed-wise or height-wise), then it is possible that the spring on your box-stock motocross bike is not right for you. How can this be? That’s simple. Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, KTM, Kawasaki and Husqvarna didn?t build the bike for you; they built it for a mythical person. That person is what they call the ?target audience.? At Suzuki, that target audience is much lighter than the one that Yamaha aims for, so it i…

MXA WRENCH TECH: WHAT ARE DUROMETERS & WHY SHOULD YOU CARE

A Durometer is a measure of the hardness of cured rubber . Hardness has an effect on how the rubber grips, how it resists flexing back and how quickly a tire built from it will wear. ELI TOMAC’S FI RST MOTO ?I didn?t get a good start in the first moto, as I spun off the line and I think my dirt was a little dry; I thought it was going to work, but it didn?t. I went through the pack a little bit, and was in third place at one point, before I made a really big mistake that sent me flying over the bars. …

THIS MUCH WE KNOW! MXA’S GUIDE TO SHOCK LINKAGE LENGTHS

One of the simplest and most common tuning tips is swapping out shock linkages. Going to a longer link not only moves the starting point of the shock travel higher into the rising-rate stroke, but it also lowers the rear of the bike. The combined effect is a bike that sits lower, especially when you raise the forks in sync with the lower rear end, and stays higher in its shock stroke. This is an especially good mod for riders on the cusp of having to go to the next stiffest spring rate (or for bikes tha…
