GIUSEPPE LUONGO’S SECRET PLAN FOR A NEW WORLD ORDER

By Jody Weisel The GP series was once the most prestigious motocross series on the planet. It was the championship that riders around the world aspired to (even American riders). No more! Now, most young European riders want to move to America to race (and follow in the footsteps of Karsmakers, Bayle, Pichon, Albertyn, Tortelli, Vuillemin, Roczen and Musquin)?and Americans only go to Europe as a last resort. It’s no secret that all is not well with the FIM World Motocross Championship. Discontent…

GIUSEPPE LUONGO TRIES TO DEFLECT CRITICISM BY DOING SOMETHING NICE… NO, REALLY!

Giu seppe Luongo. You have to give Giuseppe Luongo credit. No matter how much he has mucked up the World Motocross Championships, he just keeps throwing out ideas to see if anything sticks. There is no shortage of ideas ? just of good ones. His latest move is actually something fairly nice ? but nice is not his actual motive. Luongo will hold a tryout for the 2014 450 World Championship series at the British Grand Prix next month. During this tryout, if a rider can come within 110 percent of the average…

BLACK & WHITE: OUR SPORT’S CRAZY NAME GAME! SX LITES, MX2, 250, 450, MX1 OR SUPERCROSS?

Motocross used to be easily understandable to the layman (as well as hardcore racers). The classes were called 125, 250 and 500?although the 500 class was also euphemistically called the Open class. Then, every sanctioning body got into the naming-rights game; they tried to trademark words like Supercross, Arenacross, Supermoto, MotoGP, MXGP and any other alphabet combination that they could make a buck off of. It didn?t take long for the fascination with proprietary names to extend to the class names. …

PALA IS OUT! NEW 2012 NATIONAL MOTOCROSS SCHEDULE IS RELEASED WITH ONE MAJOR CHANGE

Don?t make any plans without checking the websites, calling the phone numbers and sending out scouts?race series change with some regularity (remember the AMA Supermoto series…it canceled more races on its schedule that it actually held…and now it’s gone). As for the 2012 AMA National Motocross schedule, it isn’t much different from last year’s schedule save for some juggling of the dates (but not the race order) and the glaring dumping of the much-ballyhooed Pala National in SoCal. MX Sports said, …
