Vance & Hines rider Preston Tilford, who is riding out the last few races on his V&H contract (because Tilford is turning Pro at Pala and doesn?t fit into V&H’s Amateur National program), made life difficult for himself in moto one of the 450 Pro class when he started at the back of the pack. Killy Rusk, taking a break from the ?back east Nationals? to get ready for th…

Jimmy Albertson. This week at Glen Helen’s REM race there were lots of fireworks. Here are 11 notable factoids. (1) Jimmy Albertson swept both motos of the 450 Pro class on his Valli Yamaha YZ450F. Albertson benefited from two holeshots?which made life easier. Albertson was ninth last weekend at the Unadilla 450 National. An enthusiastic fan tries to reach up and touch Preston Tilford’s bike in mid-air as the Vance & Hines rider flies down a hill. Actually, the fan is about 20 feet away. What is it about Glen Helen’s weekly REM races that is so attractive to men of a certain age? How can a local race, held on a Saturday, with no significance other than local bragging rights, draw more motocross racers over the age of 50 than the AMA National Amateur Championships at Loretta Lynn’s Dude Ranch. What would possess 32 ri…

REM GLEN HELEN MOTOCROSS RACE REPORT: PRESTON TILFORD BRINGS A KNIFE TO A GUNFIGHT AND WINS 450 PRO CLASS AGAIN

Vance & Hines sponsored Preston Tilford won the 450 Pro class. The 450 Pro motocross class was intense as Vance & Hines Preston Tilford showed up with his YZ250F and signed up for the 450 Pro class on it. It was no surprise, since the Loretta Lynn motocross-bound Tilford did the exact same thing last week. Why would he chose to race the big bike class on his small bike? Three reason: (1) The 250 and 450 Pros are grouped together at REM motocross and start on the same gate?thus, he is racing with…

Vance & Hines rider Preston Tilford used a 1-2 to win the 450 Pro class. The 450 Pro class at this week’s REM motocross was a mix of good and bad. Vance & Hines rider Preston Tilford took the victory with a 1-2, but the victory was damped when Tilford was force to run into a fallen Bobby Garrison in moto one. Garrison was leading Tilford by the smallest of margins, when the WORCS star fell directly into Tilford’s path. Tilford hit Garrison in the back. Tilford endoed spectacularly, but remounted…

Josh Strang was untouchable in the 450 Pro class. With the 30-minute motos continuing at Glen Helen’s weekly REM motocross races, GNCC number one Josh Strang continues to show his domination of the 450 Pro class. Bad starts made Preston Tilford work a lot harder than he should have in the 450 Pro class. In the end, he ran everyone down. The 450 Pro class had a lot of drama at this week’s REM motocross at Glen Helen Raceway. (1) Vance & Hines rider Preston Tilford won both motos, but if you were watching the race at the halfway point of each moto, you would never have thought that he was going to take the victory. Because Glen Helen is building a new starting gate on the REM track (and the cement was still cu…
