MOTOCROSS ACTION’S MID-WEEK REPORT: TOMMY HAHN, GARY JONES, CODY WEBB, SEAN COLLIER, TROY LEE & JANTZ GRODZICKI

By John Basher REST IN PEACE, JANTZ GRODZICKI     I never met Christopher ?Jantz? Grodzicki. It doesn?t matter. What does matter is that Grodzicki was cut from the motocross cloth, just like all of us, and he followed his passion.     Motocross is dangerous, but so is everything else in this world. Jantz did what he loved, and from what I understand he was a very good racer. I remember seeing him circle the animal of a Monster Energy Cup track in Las Vegas a month ago. I wa…

IN DEPTH: GEICO HONDA’S WIL HAHN

HOW DID YOU BECOME INVOLVED IN MOTOCROSS? It all stemmed from my older brother, Tommy, although our dad used to ride quads and dirt bikes when he was younger. My brother started riding dirt bikes before I did, and riding looked fun to me. For our family, it was always farming first, followed closely by dirt bikes. I started riding when I was 3-1/2 years old, and then I started lifting weights and getting serious about riding when I was 4 [laughter]. WHAT’S THE FUNNIEST STORY INVOLVING YOUR BROTHER, TOMM…

MOTOCROSS ACTION’S MID-WEEK REPORT (06/08/11)

By John Basher PHOTO OF THE WEEK     June typically marks the beginning of new bikes coming down the pipeline from manufacturers. This year (and by this year I mean 2012) KTM beat everyone else to the punch by offering up their 250SX two-stroke (yes, KTM and Yamaha are still selling two-bangers in the U.S. of A). Here, chief MXA test rider Dennis Stapleton powers through a wall turn in search of a berm fit for destruction. Look for the 2012 KTM 250SX test in the September 2011 issue of MX…

LOST & FOUND! WASHOUGAL NATIONAL PHOTO GALLERY:

When freelance photographer Will Petterson asked us if he could cover the 2010 Washougal National, we kindly obliged. Will is a huge fan of motocross, and he also enjoys shooting photos. You might remember last year that we used a photo that he took at Washougal for a photo special in the magazine. In it Chad Reed was spraying the bubbly into the spectator area while he was lit by the sunshine. It was a great shot.     In the hustle and bustle of making a magazine every…
