SITTING DOWN WITH MONSTER ENERGY / KAWASAKI / PRO CIRCUIT’S MITCH PAYTON

Mitch. Since the inception of the Pro Circuit Racing team in 1991, Pro Circuit owner and team boss Mitch Payton has built his team into the most successful 125/250ccc racing team in the history of the sport. His race team has launched some of the biggest legends in the history of motocross and supercross, including Jeremy McGrath (1991 and 1992) and Ricky Carmichael (1997, 1998 and 1999), and he continues to churn out championships. MOTOCROSS ACTION’S MID-WEEK REPORT: (08/15/12)

MXA MINI VIEW: TYLA RATTRAY South African Tyla Rattray. Tyla has had to sit out most of the outdoor season with a hand injury. Coming back mid-season and trying to contend with battled hardened guys who have been racing every week is hard enough, but Tyla also had to adjust to a new bike and a new filed of riders in stepping up to the 450 class. This is why it’s cool to see Tyla get his first 450 moto win at Southwick, even if a 20th place finish in the first moto hampered his overall for the day. We ca…

WE RIDE BROC TICKLE’S PRO CIRCUIT KAWASAKI KX450F

Unless you have been living in a bomb shelter awaiting nuclear destruction, you know that MXA doesn?t see eye to eye with the AMA. Perhaps that’s an understatement. In fact, MXA finds the AMA bureaucracy to be devoid of structure or standardization. Their rule book has more holes than Swiss cheese at a firing range. And, a good number of the AMA’s rules make little or no sense at all. For the sake of this bike test, let us point to what we refer to as the ?Trey Canard rule.?  Like all Pro Circuit r…

MOTOCROSS ACTION HELI SHOOT PHOTO GALLERY! THE STARS OF AMERICAN MOTOCROSS 2012

A cool and very unique idea popped into our heads a month ago: what if we could get as many top National riders on the same track on the same day? What if that track was Glen Helen? And what if we could rent a helicopter and shoot video footage documenting the happenings? A hundred phone calls and thousands of dollars we made it happen.     Ryan Dungey, Ken Roczen, Justin Barcia, Justin Bogle, Josh Grant, Blake Baggett, Broc Tickle, Nick Wey, Kyle Cunningham, Kyle Pete…

MOTOCROSS ACTION’S MID-WEEK REPORT (05/09/12)

By John Basher PHOTOS OF THE WEEK     Last week I spent a few hours with Josh Grant at the Jeff Ward Racing Supercross test track. We talked shop, did an interview, and shot photos for an upcoming issue. I learned a few valuable things about Grant. For starters, you probably won?t see him in NASCAR (he said, ?With age comes a cage, but I don?t like to only turn left.?). I also offended him, which turned out to be pretty funny.     After getting upside-down over the finish l…

LAS VEGAS SUPERCROSS: WILSON IN, DURHAM OUT, RATTRAY WAITING

Darryn Durham. Darryn Durham, who sustained a shoulder injury earlier in the week at Comp Edge (in fact it was MXA ‘s Dennis Stapleton who stopped to help Darryn), will be missing from action at Las Vegas. He hopes to rest up for the start of the Nationals. He has been evaluated by his physician, and it has been determined that he will not race in Las Vegas on Saturday. Meanwhile, Pro Circuit rider Tyla Rattray has continued his recovery from injuries sustained early in the season and will sit out the L…
