Willy Simons, Jr. getting low. His dad was a Pro back in the day and his dad is still blazing fast now.

Former 1970’s SoCal Pro Dave Eropkin (811) leads Willy Simons, Sr. early in the Over-50 Expert class. Behind them you can see Luther French (2) and Val Tamietti (31) banging bars.

Preston Tilford (49) had some setbacks in his Pro career, but hopes to get back on the right track in this year’s 450 Nationals.

Brian Martin tests the depth of this rut, while the rider behind him elects to use the outside line.

Dave Eropkin (811) and Robbie Carpenter (132) showing the intensity of the racing in every class at REM — regardless of the rider’s age.

Swedish Speedway racer Kim Nilsson is spending the winter in SoCal racing motocross. He says it will make him a better speedway rider when the World GPs start later this year.

Japan’s Takahara Akito (12) remounts his bike after going down at the bottom of one of Glen Helen’s big hills.

Here are a couple of Swedes, youngster Kim Nilsson catches legend Lars Larsson taking a quick catnap between motos.

Here is Lars Larsson (58) when he’s awake. If you play your cards perfectly, like Lars Larsson (58) and Jody Weisel (98), maybe you’ll still be racing against you arch nemesis 40 years from now.

Masaki Suzuzki (60) is one of four Japanese riders staying with Jimmy Holley this winter so they can race in America.

Randel Fout lives on a boat in Oceanside harbor, he surfs every day, his suntan rivals George Hamilton’s and when you ask him what he really wants to do, he says, “Race motocross.”

These vibrant colors belong to Japan’s Kaisei Nishigaki. The loam however is pure Glen Helen.

You meet the nicest people at REM. This is 2012 Daytona 200 road race winner Joey Pascarella (19). He may be a road racer, but his dad was AMA National Pro Mike Pascarella, who made 13 AMA Supercross main events as a privateer back in 1988-89, so Joey knows a thing or two about dirt.

This is the obligatory brother photo, as Dan Alamangos shoots a photo of his brother Chris. Shoot fast Dan because he doesn’t stay on two wheels for very long.
