DIRT WURX TEARING DOWN THE 2020 INDIANAPOLIS SUPERCROSS TRACK: THE RACE THAT ALMOST HAPPENED
After round ten of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross season in Daytona, things weren’t looking great with the spread of the Coronavirus, but we still had hope that we could get through the season. Then, things quickly changed as the virus spread and the government took immediate action to prevent it from growing. First, the Seattle Supercross was postponed. This rattled everyone’s feathers, but still, we had hope to finish more rounds. Then, it started tougher and tougher for the season to continue and we thought that the 2020 Indianapolis Supercross might be the last normal race of the season, meaning that there were still fans in the stadium. Then, the governor of Indiana shut down all events of over 250 people and that was the end of the Indy SX. Shortly after, the next five rounds of the season were cancelled and the final two rounds were considered “postponed.” In this video, Dirt Wurx equipment operator/track builder, Alex Gillespie films the process of tearing down the Indianapolis Supercross track, the race that almost happened.
