THIS WEEK IN MXA: ANDERSON VS. TRACK MARKER, BREAKOUT RIDES & MORE

Track markers have been a popular subject at the 2022 AMA Outdoor Nationals. At both Hangtown and Thunder Valley Nationals the track markers caused issues for top riders. In Episode 77 our This Week in MXA video series presented by O’Neal, we see Jason Anderson go “Mario Kart style” by hitting the big yellow track marker at Thunder Valley and shooting it into Eli Tomac’s line. Plus, we show Josh Gilbert’s crash into the rebar stake at Hangtown. One incident we forgot to mention in this video is RJ Hampshire’s injury from Hangtown where he was impaled by a wooden stake on the side of the track and it actually broke through his skin under his arm pit, into his rib cage and cut the top of his right lung. He had surgery on Saturday to clean it up and they put a chest tube in to keep his lung from collapsing (in hindsight we should’ve included that in this video). This video also includes highlights from the rest of the racing at the Thunder Valley National and a quick chat with Shane McElrath.
