THIS WEEK IN MXA #21: “WE’RE NOT GIVING UP ON TWO-STROKES”

In Episode 21 of our ‘This Week in MXA‘ video series presented by O’Neal Racing, we speak with the CEO of KTM Group North America, John Hinz. KTM is currently the only manufacturer offering Electric E-5 mini bikes as supplement to their 50SX two-stroke and they’re selling KTM Freeride electric bikes as well. MXA has spent a lot of time talking with the leaders of our industry lately and a reoccurring topic of conversation is the influx of new riders we’ve gained since Covid. As a follow-up topic, electric bikes keep being brought up as an easier way to introduce riders young and old to motorized two-wheeled vehicles. We like the idea of having more people on motorcycles, but we agree with the majority of motocross riders today who don’t want to see two-strokes or four-strokes replaced by electric motors. MXA’s Josh Mosiman caught up with John Hinz and asked about the current status of our industry from John’s point-of-view and about the future of electric bikes, two-strokes and four-strokes coming from KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas.
