Eli Tomac would go for his sixth victory at Daytona, beating out Ricky Carmichael for the most amount of wins.

While Eli wasn’t spectacular in his Heat Race and qualifying, a good start would mean bad news for everyone else as he moved up through fifth place and eventually caught Cooper Webb who led the race. After Cooper was held up in the whoops by Shane McElrath who was actually moving over to let him pass, Eli took the opportunity and led the rest of the race.
