VIDEO RECAP OF THE INDO GRAND PRIX: VIALLE TAKES 250 POINTS LEAD; GAJSER UNTOUCHABLE

Once hailed as the savior of Grand Prix Motocross, Giuseppe Luongo and his spawn are doing their best to kill the GPs. Who would ever imagine that the FIM would hold a Grand Prix, even a fly-away Grand Prix, with only 9 actual 250 GP riders on the line—supplemented with  5 Southeast Asian locals — for a total of 14 riders. The 450 class was much much better. It had 16 actual GP riders and two Australians, one Indonesian and a journeyman French racer (adding up to a 20-man field). The 2022 Indonesian Grand Prix was a success, if success is measured by Luongo getting his reported $650,000 sanction fee and the fans getting to see a handful of 250 GP riders. It is a sad state of affairs when a Grand Prix can’t fill a gate—if this keeps up Luongo will have to do what he did when he couldn’t get riders in the past, which was build a smaller starting gate.

Just for comparison, the AMA 250/450 Nationals have over 80 riders for each class and pay a $70,000 purse.
