If the 250 East Supercross Championship keeps up at this pace, there won’t be a single title contender in the field by the final round in Salt Lake season. This week GasGas factory rider Michael Mosiman was injured and his Supercross hopes squashed for 2021. He joins a host of injured riders on the sidelines. In essence the title chase is now down to two riders, Colt Nichols who was on the verge of putting the 2021 crown on ice when he holeshot the Indianapolis 3 250 main event, but instead of taking another win and pulling away in the points, Colt cross-rutted and crashed a couple corners into lap one. He got up in last place and charged back to third by the checkered flag. When there are so few title contenders left in the field, it is hard for a rider to pull away in the points battle—because there are so few riders quality able to get between the front runners. Nichols now has a 6 point leader over Craig with Orlando next on the 250 East schedule before they take an eight-race break for the 250 West races.
