WHAT A SURPRISE! SIXTH DIFFERENT MXGP RACE SCHEDULE CHANGE

START MXGP of ArgentinaThe final two rounds of the 2019 World Motocross Championship will now be held in China.

Youthstream might as well throw darts at a world map compared to the system they use now, which consists of chasing after government funded races regardless of where they are. Youthstream has just released their sixfth different 2019 FIM World Motocross Championship Schedule was a change to the change that they made three times before. Originally Argentina was dropped from the first MXGP schedule, then it was added on March 3 when the hoped-for Middle East GP (Iran or Kuwait) didn’t happen. After that, the date was changed  from March 3 to March 10 because local law didn’t permit big public events on election days. Then, the new schedule has Argentina back on March 3. What happened to the elections?

The next series of changes for the 2019 GP schedule was that,  the Grand Prix of Switzerland was dropped.  When Switzerland was removed from the schedule the second of the three Italian GPs was moved from September 22 to August 18 (the previous Swiss date). That move was followed Hong Kong moving to the now vacated September 22 date—making it the final Grand Prix of 2019 and an additional fly-away GP (and expense) for the already cash-strapped teams.

The latest change is to move the May 1, Shanghai, China, Grand Prix (the first of two Chinese races) to September 15 . The Hong Kong Grand Prix will still be on September 22 —  it is the final Grand Prix of 2019. This means that the teams only have to fly to China once in 2019 instead of two separate fly-away events in China. The reason given for the Shanghai date change is that it might rain on May 1. However, Grand Prix motocross fans are not going to be happy that the final two races of the 2019 FIM World Motocross Championships will be held so far away (they want the final race of the year to be held in Europe where their loyal fans are). Additionally, the teams and riders will be hard pressed to be ready for the 2019 Motocross des Nations which starts five days after the final Chinese Grand Prix on September 29 in Holland.

There are three GPs in Italy, two in Indonesia and two in China. Plus, Holland will get both a GP at Valkenswaard and the Motocross des Nations at Assen.
