WHAT’S INSIDE THE SEPTEMBER 2020 ISSUE OF MXA? THE GEMS JUST KEEP COMING

WHAT’S INSIDE THE SEPTEMBER 2020 ISSUE OF MXA?

The September 2020 issue of MXA features the KTM 350SXF that we wish KTM had built instead of the Luongo/Whitelock vision of what bike people want. We didn’t want a high-rpm, big bore KTM,  we wanted a Mid-sized Open bike ith a broader powerband. It was an awesome project —and it only cost $650 in parts.

And here it is! A 366cc KTM 350SXF. Not only is it the cheapest horsepower possible, but it has a torquey broad powerband that is more like the original YZ400, instead of a high-rpm, big-bore 250.

The FX450 cross-country bike is really just an FC450 motocross bike with a big tank and an 18-inch wheel. But, we were interested in the powerband. It was smooooth. So smooth that every MXA test rider could ride it faster—because it had a killer map.

We took the FIM World Supermoto Champion’s TM 450SMX-FI out to the tarmac to see what we could grind down faster—the footpegs or our elbows. We had lots of fun finding out.

In our “MXA Retro Test” we went back in time to test Tommy Hahn’s 2007 Factory Honda CRF250. This was from the day’s when Honda had their own 250 team—and of course the best CRF250 on the track.

Ask a question in a bar and you will get 20 different answers, but most the answered will be slurred.  That’s why we suggest you “Ask the MXperts.” We know where you left your car keys and how to map your KX250.

Brad Lackey was goal oriented. He wanted to win the 500 World Motocross Championship at all cost. He spent 11 years in pursuit of his goal. And once he finally achieved it, nobody would sign him for the next year. Read all about it here.

To the outside world the 2020 AMA Supercross Champiuonship was decided with seven races in Salt Lake City. But, there was a lot more going on behind the scenes. What? We will tell you in “The Historical Oddity of the 2020 Supercross Championship.” And, unlike us, no one will stick a cue-tip up your nose.

Eli Tomac won the 2020 AMA Supercross Championship, but Cooper Webb won the accolades of the sport for proving the Tomac was beatable.

When Jamie Ellis talks, we listen. That doesn’t mean that we fully understand what he is telling us, but we’ll get it eventually.

“Team Tested” is a quick look at motocross products that will improve your racing life.

A clutch is a simple device. You pull the lever and the plates are pried apart, you let go of the lever and the plates slam back together. How can something so simple be the subject of so much misinformation.
