Almost a month has passed since the 250 West riders competed in an AMA Supercross race. Like many riders in the 250 West, Colt Nichols came out to Glen Helen last Thursday to test his fitness and start preparing for the outdoor Nationals. Colt is currently fourth in the series with a total of 117 points. He is only 28 points short of leader and defending champion Cooper Webb, but with two races left in the season Colt’s time is running out. Last year was his rookie season and he raced only part of the 250 East because he tore his ACL in St. Louis removing him from the rest of the season. In his first race of the 2016 season in Anaheim, he placed 7th. Colt quickly started improving his results each weekend demonstrating a level of speed that put him in contention with the top riders in the 250 class.
