ARE YOU READY FOR ROUND 5? SEE TUESDAY NIGHT’S 2021 INDIANAPOLIS SUPERCROSS 2 TRACK
2021 INDIANAPOLIS SUPERCROSS 2 TRACK MAP VIDEO
The 2021 Indianapolis Supercross 2 will see a revised track from Saturday night’s Indy #1 layout. The longer start is a plus, while the large number of rhythm sections and really short, and only, whoop section means that if the dirt is like it was on Saturday, the track could quickly become one-line. The short whoops don’t favor Craig over Nichols in the 250 class or Malcolm over anyone else in the 450 class. But, you can’t fault the racing so far in 2021. Saturday was a barn burner in the the 450 class and the Craig/Lawrence miscue added some drama. And maybe there will be a few more tears. The most interesting aspect about the next two races in Indianapolis will be the dirt conditions. For the first time, Supercross will host three Rounds back-to-back in a stadium with soft dirt. Houston’s soil had a fairly hard base and the dirt at the final seven races in Salt Lake City last year was very hard packed. As we saw on Saturday, the dirt in Indianapolis is soft which means that the whoops break down easier, the jumps and transitions develop ruts and riders can easily get cross rutted and jump off the track (as seen by Ken Roczen, Dylan Ferrandis and Vince Friese). It’ll be interesting to see if the soil breaks down more at Round 5 and 6, or if it will dry out and become more hard pack.
