ASK THE MXPERTS: THE PAIN OF NEW BIKE OWNERSHIP
If I spent hard-earned money on a new Mercedes Benz and the hood ornament fell off in the first hour of ownership, I would be back at the dealership in flash demanding they fix the problem. So, tell me why the graphics wear off of new bikes on the first ride and the consumer has to foot the bill?
You have a good point and one that KTM, Yamaha and Husqvarna have addressed with in-mold graphics on the bikes. In-mold means that the graphics are under a clear coat and resist ripping or tearing. The MXA test rider have had good luck with in-mold graphics and they last well over a year before the clear coat wears through. Obviously the large number of riders who prefer to have their own custom graphics designed means that they are going to cover up the stock graphics anyway.
