BELFAST SUPERCROSS WON BY RUSSIAN: NOT AN AMERICAN IN SIGHT

Without a single American rider in attendance, the Belfast Supercross proved that Yank ringers aren’t required for European Supercross races to draw a crowd and have good racing.

There were three main events at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast: (1) 450 International. (2) 250 Pro. (3) All-British Championship. Best of all there were three different winners?including one from Ireland.

ALL BRITISH: Ireland’s Martin Barr won the All British Open class on a Suzuki. Barr who raced Honda’s in 2010 has a KTM contract or 2011?but the Belfast Supercross fell between his expiring and next contract, so he raced a Suzuki. Barr took the in in front of British 450 National Champion Brad Anderson.

250 PRO CLASS: British rider Adam Chatfield, who has not raced very much in the United Kingdom in the last few years, won the 250 Pro class. Chatfield has some USA Supercross experience?although he was never a contender. Jack Brunell was second and Bobryshev made a rare appearance on a 250 for third.

INTERNATIONAL 450: Tom Church led, but Bobryshev forced his way past for the lead. The final top five were Bobryshev, Church, Brad Anderson, Gordon Crockard and Chatfield.

The idea that Ireland could hold a Supercross race without any American riders is good for the sport. with the exception of Bobryshev, only Canadians Kyle Beaton and Colton Facciotti could be considered outsider. If the three race British Supercross series (Belfast, London and Liverpool) can stand on it own two legs without carpetbaggers?it will be good for European Supercross.
