BEST IN THE PITS | 2021 SALT LAKE CITY SUPERCROSS 2

After a wild season of racing that featured three-race residencies, four rounds of Supercross held outdoors at Speedways (Daytona and Atlanta), a long three week break in the middle of the season and dramatic highs and lows in each class, the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross season finale is upon us. The January races in Houston, Texas, feel like they were yesterday and, as fans of the sport, we’re sad to see the season come to an end.

In this article, we share photos from the lens of MXA photographer, Brian Converse, as he scours the Salt Lake City Supercross pits to get up close and personal with the Supercross race bikes one more time. Of course, all of the factory bikes still look like new.

Cameron McAdoo 2021 Salt Lake City Supercross 2-3571Cameron McAdoo is running some strong black grip tape on his frame to help him squeeze the bike. After his big get off at Atlanta 2, wasn’t 100-percent healthy when he raced a few days after his brutal wreck at Atlanta 3. There, we saw him crash hard again in qualifying. He cased a jump that normally wouldn’t phase a rider like McAdoo, but he didn’t have the strength to hold on and it sent him for a wild ride. Hopefully, after two weeks of recovery, Cameron is good to go for the 250 East/West Showdown.

Unfortunately for Justin and the GasGas team, he hasn’t won another race this season, but he did land on the podium a total of four times so far.

Jo Shimoda 2021 Salt Lake City Supercross 2-6306 Jo Shimoda was very impressive last Saturday, but he still said that he has more potential for speed in the tank. It’ll be interesting to see how he does at the 250 East/West Showdown with the new confidence he has from winning last Saturday.

Ken Roczen 2021 Salt Lake City Supercross 2-3504Although Ken Roczen has crashed while leading the last two races and basically tossed away his hopes of winning the title, we can still look at his results as an improvement over the 2020 season where he related a lot of his struggles to Epstein-Barr health issues.
