Southwick was a tough track on many riders. Both Blake Baggett and Matt Bisceglia of Yoshimura Suzuki took tumbles that prematurely ended their day. Baggett had qualified eighth but crashed during both practice and the first moto. While he attempted to recover, Baggett was only able to get 24th and had to pull out of the second moto. While we don’t know the extent of the injury, Baggett injury was tied to his shoulder/collarbone injury he sustained at Hangtown this year. Matt Bisceglia had no better luck crashing in the consolation race. He was leading it by a large margin. The crash had fractured some ribs and caused his lung to partially collapse. While Baggett is out for the remainder of the season, Matt Bisceglia should be back at Unadilla.

“It’s a tough break to lose Blake for the season. He’s been such a warrior fighting back and racing with injury and pushing himself all the way to some solid finishes,” said team manager Mike Webb in a statement. “We couldn’t be more pleased with his efforts. Matt’s been doing a great job filling in and we look forward to his return at Unadilla.”

On the other hand, James Stewart is returning to the series this Saturday according to the team. With his injury healed and his baby born, hopefully he can return with new focus.
