COCA-COLA MAKES ANOTHER MOVE ON MONSTER

COKEMONSTER

Coca-Cola, who tried to buy Monster Energy outright in 2012 and is already a Monster distributor, bought 17 percent of Monster (and says that it wants to own 25 percent in the future). The deal cost Coke $2.15 billion. After the news Monster’s stock rose 26 percent (to $90). It was $77 when Coke tried to buy the complete company two years ago. Coca-Cola rose 1% in after hours trading. As part of the deal Monster will transfer its non-energy brands, including Hansen’s Natural Soda and Peace Tea, to Coca-Cola.
