DREAM JOBS: HOW TO MAKE A LIVING DOING WHAT YOU LOVE (08/09/11)

BO
B BARNETT
ARC LEVERS OWNER

STARTING POINT:
“As a kid, I fixed lawn mowers to make enough money to buy a bike. On my 12th birthday I got a die grinder and a degree wheel. My first levers were all about the adjustability, and I hadn’t even thought about the not breaking concept. But, the way I made them, they flipped around. I said, ?Hey, I think I’ve got something here.'”

THE JOB:
“In May of 1999, I showed my first prototype levers to MXA. Now they are on a lot of factory bikes. I’m the designer, engineer, machinist, inspector and test rider?that shortcuts a lot of things. It’s easy to make stuff for tricycles, your kid’s bicycle or beginner bikes, but when the top guys are running something, it’s making a statement. That means you have the best stuff on the planet. That’s what I’ve striven for.”
